In one of
my daily readings, Billy Graham talks about the eagle having a unique
ability to lock it's joints and soar effortlessly on an updraft. No
flapping the wings here!
Almost
everyone I know is facing adversity upon adversity of some kind.
Life is just difficult, isn't it? I often think of what Jesus
said to his disciples (and to us!!).
"In
this world you will have trouble, but be of good cheer! I have
overcome the world." John 16:33b
As I face
the trials throughout this day, I'll think I'll try to remember the eagle
locking it's joints and soaring, rather than flapping his wings. In fact,
I might even put up a sign:
NO FLAPPING ALLOWED!
Those who wait upon the
LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like
eagles.
ISAIAH
40:31
May you be blessed
with a day of no flapping!!

Every
morning my 4 yr. old granddaughter Mozelle and I start our day out by
quoting Max Lucado....
"Before you face the day, face the
Father. Before you step out of bed, step into His presence".
Isn't that great? We then do our morning prayer together.
Memorizing
this phrase is one of the wiser things I've done. Why? It's a
great reminder to start the day out putting the Lord first. Between
preparing for and leading the music at the Baptist church, helping my
husband at his office, giving guitar & vocal lessons, raising a 4 yr. old,
working on projects in my little Pro-Tools studio, doing chores, planning
& fixing dinners ( we're having tv dinners a little too often...Feel free
to Email any easy, delicious Crock Pot recipes), cleaning house, grocery
and supply shopping.....well, keeping Jesus as the main focus in life can
be challenging, to say the least. Most of the women I know are
having the same "time" challenge.
The Bible
tells us in Ephesians 2:10,
For we are God's workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us
to do. I
know we all have much to do in this life...things we're called to do, and
doing them translates into being obedient.
HOWEVER!!!! The Bible also tells us in Isaiah 26:3:
Thou
wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee:
because he trusteth in thee.
How can we
keep our minds on him if we're so busy thinking about and dealing with
this world and all it's busyness and trappings, and not spending enough
time in the Word? I recently heard someone say "How can we know his
heart if we don't know his Word?"
RESOLUTIONS:
At my house, we were all in bed at around
9:00 on New Years Eve and as far as I know, there were no New Years
Resolutions made. What I did find myself hoping for, and am praying
for, is the willingness and discipline to greet each dawn with eyes turned
upward, looking towards the Savior and saying "I see you Jesus....I want
to see you."
ISRAEL:
Please
"Pray
for the peace of Jerusalem: may they prosper who love
you"
Psalm 122:6
May the Lord
bless and keep you
In His
love,
Amen Amen and Amen
May the
Lord smile on you....
Numbers 6:25 (NLT)
